Allenby's struggles continue at Riviera CC
Feb. 14, 2013 - 4:35 PM ET

Robert Allenby swallowed a 5-over-par 35-41=76 in his opening round of the Northern Trust Open.

Back in action since a hip injury bumped him from the Farmers during his second round, the 2001 NTO champ hit only nine greens today. It led to six bogeys and a double, erasing three birdies on his first nine. He birdied holes 11 and 16 from 11'6" and 16'11", respectively, so his score could have been higher without those mid-range conversions. A year ago this week, he ranked 70th in the world. He entered this week slotted 227th. Over his last 20 starts worldwise, he's cashed only five times and has zero top 25s.
