Lions DT Nick Fairley has been placed in the NFL's substance abuse program.

Fairley's attorney made the disclosure in court on Monday, and also revealed that Fairley has passed a drug test since his April arrest on misdemeanor marijuana charges. Fairley is due to appear in Mobile, Ala. court on July 31. He's facing a possible league-mandated suspension, but could escape without a ban since this was his first known offense.
