Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said Sunday that Clay Buchholz will remain in the starting rotation.
"I have no plans to change him at this time," a bewildered Bobby V told reporters. Buchholz yielded five runs over just 3 2/3 innings in Sunday's 17-inning loss to the Orioles and is sporting an ugly 9.09 ERA in 32 2/3 frames this year. But Boston doesn't have better options.
