Yankees manager Joe Girardi announced following Thursday's game that Mariano Rivera was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his right knee.
Absolutely crushing news. Rivera is scheduled to head back to New York to meet with Yankees' doctors, but his season is almost certainly over and there's at least a chance that he has thrown his final pitch. It's terrible news for the Yankees, as there will never be another closer like Rivera, but David Robertson and Rafael Soriano are capable replacements. We would give the edge to Robertson, but both should be stashed away in most fantasy leagues.
