Bryce Harper played hero against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, driving home the go-ahead run with an RBI double as part of a 2-1 victory.
Nationals manager Davey Johnson raised some eyebrows by batting Harper third in just his fifth major league game, but the 19-year-old rewarded his faith by pushing across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth. Harper is now hitting .375 with four doubles and three RBI over his first 16 at-bats. If the Nationals intended on Harper's first stint in the majors being a brief one, he's doing everything in his power to change their minds.
