Castro stays sharp; still on top at Humana
Jan. 18, 2013 - 5:45 PM ET

Overnight co-leader Roberto Castro backed up his opening 63 at the Humana Challenge with a 5-under-par 32-35=67 in his second round at PGA West's Palmer Private to snare outright possession of the 36-hole clubhouse lead at 14-under 130.

Castro hit 13 greens in regulation today and converted seven birdies. The highlight of the round was the first one when he chipped in from the greenside rough 14 yards out at the par-3 12th hole. He also poured in conventional birdies from 26'2" at 13 and 13'9" at the fourth. However, he stumbled in with bogeys on two of his last three holes, including a three-putt from 46-and-a-half feet at the par-4 ninth. He'll attempt to keep the pedal depressed tomorrow at La Quinta Country Club.
