Johnson-McCall 2 set for June

Johnson and McCall fought to a draw at UFC on FX 2 last month in Sydney, resulting in the rematch

The UFC is returning to South Florida for the first time in five years.

The promotion announced on Thursday that UFC on FX 3, which will be headlined by Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall 2, would take place at the BankAtlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Friday, June 8.

Johnson (14-2-1) and McCall (11-2-1) fought to a draw at UFC on FX 2 last month in Sydney, Australia, resulting in the rematch. The winner of the bout will meet Jospeh Benavidez later this year to crown the UFC's inaugural 125-pound champion.

Fans voted for the event to take place in Florida through the Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown contest, and they'll also be able to choose the first televised fight on the card, as well. The choices are: Scott Jorgensen vs. Eddie Wineland in bantamweight action; Carlos Eduardo Rocha vs. Mike Pierce in a welterweight bout; Lance Benoist vs. Seth Baczynski at 170 pounds. Fans can make their selection here.

Other fights scheduled for the card include Charlie Brenneman vs. Erick Silva, Mike Pyle vs. Josh Neer and Leonard Garcia vs. Matt Grice.

This will mark the UFC's sixth event in Florida. The last major event to take place at the BankAtlantic Center was Strikeforce: Miami in Jan. 2010. The arena was also the site of the infamous Kimbo Slice vs. Seth Petruzelli bout in Oct. 2008.
