Russell Henley is making it look easy at Waialae Country Club in his rookie debut, backing up his opening 63 with another in today's second round to set the 36-hole clubhouse lead at 14-under 126.
The rookie hit all 18 greens in regulation today and circled seven birdies, the longest of which from 16'9" at the fifth hole. For the tournament, he's split only 14 of 28 fairways but has landed 33 GIR. The sharpshooting has led to 15 birdies, but only two of those were on the pair of par 5s, and both of those occurred today. You couldn't draw up a better start to a career on the PGA TOUR, but Henley will likely see tighter pins on the weekend, not to mention feel some of the heat going out late on Saturday.
