Career-low 62 gives Kirk early 36-hole lead
Jan. 11, 2013 - 6:35 PM ET

Chris Kirk picked apart Waialae Country Club in his second round of the Sony Open in Hawaii, signing for a bogey-free, 8-under-par 31-31=62, good for early possession of the 36-hole clubhouse lead.

Kirk reached the midpoint in 10-under 130 but is unlikely to sleep on the lead. After exchaging and birdie for a bogey on the par 5s on Thursday, he eagled both holes today to go with four birdies. The 3 to close out his round on the par-5 18th secured what is now his career-low score on the PGA TOUR. His longest conversions of the day measured 15'9" and 15'6", respectively, at the 11th and 16th holes.
