Tim Clark crafted a bogey-free, 6-under-par 32-32=64 in his opening round of the Sony Open in Hawaii, good for a share of the clubhouse lead.
Right on cue. Having been prevented from competing last year due to elbow surgery, Clark hasn't played Waialae since a co-runner-up in 2011. He picked up right where he left off though, converting six birdies to catch Scott Piercy. Five of Clark's birdies dropped in from beyond 10 feet, including a pair from just outside 17 feet (at holes 16 and 1), but the highlight was a zero-putt six-yarder from the fringe at the 18th, his ninth of the round. He also poured in a par save from 12'1" at 4.
