Scott Piercy spun a bogey-free, 6-under-par 32-32=64 in his opening round of the Sony Open in Hawaii, good for sole possession of the clubhouse lead.
The morning wave is still finishing but he looks safe to retain his advantage atop the leaderboard. Piercy hit 14 greens and circled six birdies, including rolls from 11 feet and 37'5" at the third and seventh holes, respectively. He shared 13th place at Kapalua on Tuesday, so if fatigue was an issue for him at Waialae today, he didn't show it.
