Avalanche's D not doing much offensively
Joe Sacco - W - Colorado Avalanche
Feb. 8, 2013 - 9:40 AM ET

Every team with the exception of the Colorado Avalanche has gotten at least one goal from a defenseman this season.

That's among the reasons that the Avalanche have been one of the worst offensive teams in 2013. "There's no question, we need some offense from the back end," said Avalanche coach Joe Sacco. "We have a couple guys we think are capable of contributing offensively for us. Some of them, we don't expect much offensively, but certainly a few guys we do." Erik Johnson, for example, should be at least an above average offensive defenseman. So far he hasn't even been that though, as evidenced by his single point in 10 contests. Colorado is 4-6-0 this season.
