The Chicago Tribune suggests that the White Sox could overspend to ''make a deal happen'' with Cuban outfielder Jorge Soler.
The White Sox have a shortage of run-producers behind Dayan Viciedo and were able to move payroll by trading Carlos Quentin and Jason Frasor while allowing Mark Buehrle and Juan Pierre to leave in free agency. The Cubs are widely-considered the favorites to land Soler, with the Yankees and Phillies also reportedly ''in the mix.''
