World's No. 1 elects not to compete at HTOC

Rory McIlroy has chosen not to tee it up at next week's Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
The 2012 PGA TOUR Player of the Year won four times on the circuit this year -- Honda Classic; PGA Championship; Deustche Bank Championship; BMW Championship. He won the money title as well before turning the same trick in the European Tour's Race to Dubai, closing out that season with a title at the DP World Tour Championship. The 23-year-old finished the year ranked atop the Official World Golf Ranking. He'll open his 2013 season at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on Jan. 17-20.
