Woods will open 2013 in Abu Dhabi on Jan. 17
Dec. 28, 2012 - 9:55 PM ET

Tiger Woods extended his holdout from the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, electing not to compete for the sixth consecutive time he's qualified.

Woods hasn't knocked it around Kapalua since he shared third place to open the 2005 season. He earned return trips every year except 2011 and 2012 but took a pass time each time. This year's opportunity to decline the invite was secured via victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial and the AT&T National. Instead, he's scheduled to begin his 2013 season at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on Jan. 17-20 where he posted a T3 this past January.
