Cubs GM Jed Hoyer said Thursday that Alfonso Soriano is doubtful to be traded before spring training.
"I think that's unlikely (that he'll start the season with another team)," Hoyer told The Carmen, Jurko & Harry Show on ESPN 1000. "Our hope is obviously you want him to get on base a little more. The power was there last year, the RBIs were there." Soriano, 36, batted .244 with a .759 OPS in 2011. The Orioles expressed some interest in him this winter, but trade talks didn't get far.
