Post-UFC 143 Fantasy Matchmaker

Here's who we'd like to see pair off in future events

UFC 143 has come and gone, and in some ways, it left us with more questions than answers. Let's take a look at who the Fantasy Matchmaker has in store next for 143's winners and losers.

Carlos Condit: TBA.
If GSP isn't ready to return this year, I think it makes most sense to book a rematch against Diaz. Not because I don't think Condit deserved to win, but because I think it's the fight that would generate the most dollars and be most interesting for the fans.

Nick Diaz: See above.
If GSP does come back earlier than expected, I like Dana White's idea of Diaz vs. Josh Koscheck. One idea I don't like is Diaz retiring.

Fabricio Werdum: Shane Carwin.
There isn't a good answer out there right now for Werdum, since I think Cain Velasquez should fight Frank Mir next, so a fight against Carwin is the only real option out there for him.

Roy Nelson: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
This would make for a fun fight on the feet and on the ground. Plus, both men need to get back on the winning track.

Josh Koscheck: TBA.
Again, if the UFC books GSP vs. Condit, I would book Koscheck vs. Diaz. If Jake Ellenberger beats Diego Sanchez next week, I like the idea of Koscheck vs. Hendricks. However, if Sanchez wins, I like the idea of Sanchez vs. Koscheck II. Make sense?

Mike Pierce: Martin Kampmann.
I know Kampmann is coming off a win, while Pierce lost at UFC 143, but I like this fight, since I feel like Pierce picked up somewhat of a moral victory on Saturday night.

Renan Barao: Winner of McDonald vs. Torres.
I don't think the UFC will keep Barao sidelined until after Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber III, so a fight against the winner of the upcoming Michael McDonald vs. Miguel Torres at UFC 145 works for me.

Ed Herman: Winner of Stann vs. Sakara.
Herman says he wants a top-10 opponent next, so how about the winner of the April 14 Brian Stann vs. Alessio Sakara fight?

Other fights to make:
Dustin Poirier vs. Chan Sung Jung
Alex Caceres vs. Edwin Figueroa II
Matt Riddle vs. Matt Brown
Stephen Thompson vs. Amir Sadollah
