D'Backs avoid arb. with Montero at $5.9 mil

The D'Backs and C Miguel Montero avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $5.9 million contract.
Montero requested $6.8 million and was offered $5.4 million from the Diamondbacks when arbitration figures were exchanged earlier this month. And the two sides were able to find a common ground just moments before heading into an arbitration hearing. Montero, 28, batted .282/.351/.469 with 18 home runs and 86 RBI last year for Arizona. He remains a fantastic fantasy catcher.
