Jon Jones and Rashad Evans will finally square off later this year.
The UFC officially announced following Saturday night's UFC on FOX 2 event that the light heavyweight champion Jones will meet Evans at UFC 145 on April 21 in Atlanta. This marks the third time that the two were scheduled meet, however, the stars never aligned for the former training partners and friends due to injuries and scheduling conflicts.
"I can't wait to get past this chapter in my career," Jones said. "I've been calling him my antagonist because of all the hype and drama. So I'm a happy man. I'm looking forward to retaining my title on April 21st in the ATL."
Evans (17-1-1) defeated Phil Davis via unanimous decision on Saturday night to earn the title shot. The former light heavyweight champion has won four in a row since losing the belt to Lyoto Machida at UFC 98.
Jones (15-1) is coming off a 4-0 2011 campaign, which saw him defeat Ryan Bader, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Quinton Jackson and Lyoto Machida in one calendar year.
UFC 145 will mark the organization's second trip to Atlanta. The first -- UFC 88 in 2008 -- was highlighted by Evans knocking out Chuck Liddell in the main event.
Junior Dos Santos flattened Frank Mir with a huge right hand and finished him on the ground at 3:04 of the second round Saturday night, emphatically defending his heavyweight title at UFC 146 on Saturday night.
