Charl Schwartzel romps again, this time by 12
Dec. 16, 2012 - 1:25 PM ET

Charl Schwartzel cruised to a 12-stroke victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club in Malelane, South Africa.

One week removed from a punishing 11-stroke runaway at the Thailand Golf Championship, the South African returned to the site of his first of what is now eight career victories on the European Tour. He posted 24-under-par 67-64-64-69=264 on the strength of one eagle and 25 birdies against just three bogeys. "[Leopard Creek has] always been a special place for me," said the champ whose last Euro Tour title was the 2011 Masters. "This is where I can almost say my career started and it's always stayed close to my heart. It's nice to have continued my form from last week. ... It started at the SA Open (where he placed fifth to begin a string of five consecutive top fives) and from there got better and better. It's been a pretty good year now!" Sweden's Kristoffer Broberg took runner-up honors. A foursome tied for third one back of Broberg, including defending champion Garth Mulroy and last week's winner, Scott Jamieson.
