Adrian Peterson undergoes successful surgery
Adrian Peterson - RB - Minnesota Vikings
Dec. 31, 2011 - 2:30 PM ET

As expected, Adrian Peterson (ACL, MCL, meniscus) underwent reconstructive surgery on his injured left knee Friday.

"We've received word that Adrian underwent successful knee surgery with Dr. James Andrews and is now resting comfortably," were the words of coach Leslie Frazier in an official team release. The fact that Peterson's operation took place just six days after his injury increases the chances that he will be ready for Week 1 in 2012, but he's still a good bet to begin the year on the PUP list.
