Tom Watson dubbed 2014 U.S. Ryder Cup captain
Dec. 13, 2012 - 10:45 AM ET

The PGA of America announced today that Tom Watson will serve as captain of the United States Ryder Cup team in 2014 at Gleneagles in Scotland.

This fulfills the hoopla surrounding Watson since Sunday when he acknowledged in Australia that he'd love a chance to return to the helm. He captained the victorious U.S. squad at The Belfry in England in 1993. "I was waiting for about 20 years to get the call," Watson said this morning. "I loved it the first time. I'm a great fan of the Ryder Cup. It's a great honor to be able to do it again." The European captain is expected to be named next month.
