Steven Bowditch crafted a field-low, 8-under-par 64 at PGA West's Nicklaus Tournament Course in his fifth round of the final stage of Q School to establish a one-stroke lead entering Monday's finale.
The Aussie was two strokes lower than everyone else in the field on Sunday. He sits at 23-under 337 with 18 holes to play. Bowditch finished 185th on the money list on the PGA TOUR this year, but he was limited to 18 starts due to conditional status. The top 25 and ties at PGA West not already fully exempt in 2013 will earn cards tomorrow. That bubble currently includes notables Kris Blanks (338), Edward Loar (339), 72-hole leader, Dong-hwan Lee (340), Richard H. Lee (341), Billy Horschel (341), Brad Fritsch (342), Robert Karlsson (342), Ross Fisher (342), Matt Jones (342), Nicholas Thompson (343), Erik Compton (343), Vaughn Taylor (344), Mathew Goggin (344), Tom Pernice, Jr. (344), Kevin Kisner (344), Michael Letzig (344), Chez Reavie (345), Heath Slocum (345), Tag Ridings (345) and 2010 NCAA individual champion, Scott Langley (345). NOTE: The only withdrawal on Sunday was Brett Bergeron, who completed four rounds in 22-over 310 and sat in last place (of 168) at the time.
