The 20-year-old native of South Korea carded the low round on Thursday; he played PGA West's Stadium Course. In his last competition awarding World Ranking points, Kim won an event on the Korean Tour, outlasting Kevin Na in a playoff. (Paul Casey and Charlie Wi placed T3.) Meanwhile, back at Q School, Vaughn Taylor sits in second place at 12-under 132. Overnight leader Steve LeBrun chased his 64 with a 69 at the Nicklaus Tournament Course to settle at 133, good for a share of third place with Richard H. Lee.
