Jang holds early clubhouse lead in China
Nov. 1, 2012 - 2:25 AM ET

Ik-Jae Jang carded a 4-under-par 34-34=68 in his opening round of the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions to establish very early possession of the clubhouse lead.

The 39-year-old South Korean qualified for this tournament by winning The Crowns on the Japan Golf Tour earlier this year. He's posted three top 10s in his last four starts, so today's red number is continuation of solid form. Jang rolled in six birdies, three of which on the quintet of par 5s at the Olaz'bal Course at Mission Hills Golf Club north of Hong Kong. Both of his bogeys occurred on par 3s. He entered the week ranked 218th in the world.
