LONDON - Greg Rusedski was selected to Britain’s Davis Cup team for next month’s match at Luxembourg, a week after being cleared of doping charges.
Davis Cup captain Jeremy Bates picked Rusedski on Wednesday along with Tim Henman, Arvind Parmar and rookie Jonathan Marray for the April 9-11 Euro-African zone match.
Rusedski, the 1997 U.S. Open runner-up, tested positive for the steroid nandrolone at a tournament in Indianapolis in July and faced a two-year ban if found guilty.
He was cleared last Wednesday by an independent panel, which accepted his contention that his positive test was the result of contaminated electrolyte supplements provided by ATP Tour trainers.
Despite winning the French Open, Rafael Nadal will be seeded merely No. 5 at Wimbledon, opening the prospect of a quarterfinal with Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic or Andy Murray.
