Giants 'asked questions' about A's Mark Ellis

According to Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Giants "asked questions" about Oakland second baseman Mark Ellis this past weekend.
We'll have to assume that those "questions" centered around Ellis' availability via trade. The 34-year-old infielder is on the disabled list currently with a hamstring strain and has watched Jemile Weeks become a spark plug for the A's in his absence. It's seems likely that Oakland will be open to moving Ellis, who is going to be without a starting job when he returns to full health.
