Toronto - Randy Couture didn't attend the UFC 129 post-fight press conference because he was sent to the hospital after getting knocked out via front kick by Lyoto Machida in the second round of their fight.
He did, however, find time to make it to his after-party, and "The Natural" rode to it in style.
"Randy is OK," Couture's manager Sam Spira informed NBCSports.com via e-mail. "[He had a] CT scan. Lost some teeth. But he's tough as hell. Was adamant about going to his after-party -- we went in an ambulance."
UFC president Dana White told reporters that Couture was rocked so hard, he thought Machida knocked him out with a punch.
“I went up into the octagon to talk to him,” White said. “I said, ‘Are you alright?’ He said, ‘Yeah, he hit me in the tooth,’ and the tooth fell out while he was showing me. So I said, ‘That’s alright. We’ll get you a new one — a better one than that when we get back to Vegas.’
“I tried to catch it, but he got it — thank God.”
The 47-year-old Couture (19-11) announced his retirement in front of the 55,000 fans at Rogers Centre in Toronto after the fight.
"No, you're not going to see me again," Couture told Joe Rogan in the post-fight interview. "This is it."
And while earlier in the week, White said he didn't believe this would be Couture's last fight, the UFC president changed his tune on Saturday night.
"Before the pre-fight press conference, I said I don't think we celebrate Randy Couture enough," White said. "Everyone went crazy when George Foreman KO'd Michael Moorer. Randy's 47 fighting with 20-somehtings. He's an amazing human being. To see him end like this ... you know what I was saying before the fight. I think he should retire, too. He went out on a high. He went seven minutes with Machida, and that's still a big deal."

Can anyone top the big three of Silva, Jones, and GSP as the best pound-for-pounder fighter?
