New York - BJ Penn won't be competing at UFC 132 after all.
A week after Penn's original opponent, Jon Fitch, was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injured shoulder, Penn also withdrew from the event due to an undisclosed injury, MMA Fighting confirmed with the UFC.
Penn (16-7-2) and Fitch (23-3-1, 1 NC) fought to a majority draw at UFC 127 in Feburary. Two judges scored the fight 28-28, giving Penn the first and second rounds, and a 10-8 to Fitch in the third. One judge scored the fight 29-28 in favor of Fitch.
No word on the severity of Penn's injury.
UFC 132 is scheduled for July 2 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The event, headlined by Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber for the bantamweight title, will air live on pay-per-view.
