Karlsson breaks a Senators franchise record
Erik Karlsson - D - Ottawa Senators
Feb. 23, 2012 - 7:30 AM ET

Erik Karlsson set a franchise record on Wednesday by becoming the first defenseman to reach 47 assists in a year.

Karlsson also scored his 13th goal, giving him 60 points in 61 games. That's 20 points more than the next leading blueliner. He's also on track to easily surpass the Senators' record for most points by a defenseman, which currently stands at 63. We'll have to wait to see if his incredible offensive output is enough to earn him a Norris Trophy, but there's no doubt that he's been the best fantasy defenseman this season.
