Garrigus posts 13-under; falls in playoff
March 25, 2012 - 9:59 PM ET

Robert Garrigus blitzed the Copperhead course in the final round of the Transitions Championship with a 7-under-par 32-32=64 to earn a spot in a four-man playoff, but couldn't convert a 6'11" birdie putt on the first playoff hole to extend Luke Donald to a second hole.

Garrigus birdied four of his last five holes, including an 8'5" putt on the 18th, to post a 13-under 67-72-68-64=271 and wrestle the clubhouse lead away from Scott Piercy. He gave himself plenty of opportunities for birdie as he hit 16 GIR and turned that into six birdies and an eagle to a lone bogey. For the week, he hit 54/72 GIR. His current form and length should serve him well in next week's Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he is scheduled to compete.
