Lakers tell Howard they're not trading him
Dwight Howard - C - Los Angeles Lakers
Feb. 15, 2013 - 2:20 PM ET

Impending free agent Dwight Howard says he's been told by the Lakers he won't be traded before Thursday's deadline.

Howard's name has come up in trade talks as the Lakers' season has been surrounded by turmoil and disappointing losses. If the Lakers don't deal him, they could walk away from nothing after shipping Andrew Bynum out of town in the trade that brought Howard to L.A. Still, with a bum shoulder and a back that's still healing after offseason surgery, it's not like the Lakers would get prime value for Howard. We don't expect Howard will get dealt, but we'll just to wait until Thursday to find out for sure.
