Simon's appeal rejected in Dominican Republic

According to Dionisio Soldevila of the Associated Press, Alfredo Simon's appeal was rejected by a judge in the Dominican Republic.
There was optimism that Simon could be freed earlier this week, but that apparently won't be happening anytime soon. Simon was once again denied bail and remains in police custody as the primary suspect in the New Year's Eve shooting death of Michel Esteban Castillo Almonte. The Orioles placed him on the restricted list last week.
