Pujols, Cards push deadline back to Wednesday
Albert Pujols - 1B - St Louis Cardinals
Feb. 14, 2011 - 11:25 AM ET

According to B.J. Rains of FOXSportsMidwest.com, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said the deadline for contract talks with Albert Pujols has been pushed back to noon eastern time on Wednesday.

And the Cardinals have franchise icon Stan Musial to thank for the extra day. Musial is being honored at the White House on Tuesday, so the Cardinals asked to push the deadline back one day. Pujols obliged to the team's request. Then again, the extra day might not even matter. With Pujols reportedly asking for a 10-year deal, there's a massive gap between the two sides.
