Steelers DE Smith joins Pouncey on sideline
Aaron Smith - DL - Pittsburgh Steelers
Feb. 4, 2011 - 4:05 PM ET

In addition to C Maurkice Pouncey, the Steelers have ruled out DE Aaron Smith (triceps) for Super Bowl XLV.

Smith finishes his 12th NFL season with 15 tackles (7 solo) and no sacks in six games, his year ending with a torn triceps muscle. He tried to get healthy for the playoffs, but it was never a realistic rehab timetable. Smith is expected to continue his playing career entering a contract season, although it remains to be seen if he'll be retained. The 35-year-old is owed $4.5 million in salary, and Ziggy Hood has arguably been an upgrade.
