The Lakers confirmed an MRI revealed Pau Gasol has a partial tear of his plantar fascia, which reportedly will sideline him for at least six weeks and could bench him for up to three months.
The Lakers declined to give a timeline until Gasol gets a second opinion in L.A. on Thursday. A league source told CBS Sports' Ken Berger that surgery would sideline Gasol for 10-12 weeks and offers a better chance of a full recovery. If Gasol declines surgery, he'll be sidelined for six to eight weeks. Coach Mike D'Antoni said earlier Wednesday that Gasol would be out for "a while" and the reported timeline will sideline Gasol at least into mid-March. Even if he doesn't opt for surgery, we wouldn't blame owners if this finally prompted you to cut bait on Gasol. Earl Clark and Metta World Peace will see definite boosts in their values and Antawn Jamison becomes an interesting option in deeper leagues.
