WASHINGTON - Washington Capitals defenseman Jason Doig was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL on Friday for kneeing Carolina Hurricanes center Kevyn Adams.
Doig will miss Saturday’s game against Vancouver and Tuesday’s game against Tampa Bay.
Doig kneed Adams late in the first period of the Capitals’ 5-3 victory at Raleigh on Thursday. Adams’ left knee was injured on the play, and he did not return. Doig was assessed a minor penalty.
On Wednesday, Doig gave New York Rangers star Eric Lindros a concussion with a hard hit during a 2-1 Capitals victory.
Nashville's Allison suspended one game
Nashville Predators defenseman Jamie Allison was suspended for one game without pay by the NHL on Friday, one day after arguing with a fan after receiving a 10-minute misconduct penalty during a win at Columbus.
The Predators were also fined $10,000.
After Allison received the misconduct penalty with less than a minute left in the second period, he threw his stick down the tunnel leading to the Nashville dressing room. A police officer then appeared to get in an argument with Allison.
Two fans were ejected for harassing him. There was no physical contact between the fans and Allison.
Allison will sit out Nashville’s game against San Jose on Saturday.
PHT: After coming back home in an 0-2 hole, the Sharks are now even with the Kings after holding on to win Game 4 Tuesday night.
The San Jose Sharks capitalized on their scoring chances in the first period and the early part of the second period in Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal series against the Los Angeles Kings. After falling behind by two goals, the Kings almost cut the lead in half in the second period, but the referee blew the play dead as the puck was about to cross the goal line. The series is now tied at two.
