Glen Davis will undergo foot surgery on Friday for a fractured fifth metatarsal and is expected to miss 8-12 weeks.
The surgery will call for Davis to have a screw inserted in his foot. It's a tough blow to Big Baby after he had a shoulder injury earlier this year. It's officially time to cut bait with Davis, who will likely finish the season with averages of 15.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 0.9 steals on 44.8 percent shooting. Even if he returns in just eight weeks, Davis would have eight games in April to make an impact, but the more probable scenario is he's sidelined longer than just eight weeks and winds up missing the rest of the season. The Magic could use a committee approach to replace Davis, but Andrew Nicholson could wind up being a fantasy sleeper if the Magic move to a youth movement. Keep an eye on the rookie.
