Pau Gasol plays 37 minutes, injures foot
Pau Gasol - F/C - Los Angeles Lakers
Jan. 31, 2013 - 4:40 AM ET

Pau Gasol played 37 minutes on Wednesday, but finished with just 14 points, five rebounds, a steal and a block on 6-of-13 shooting, and may have suffered a right foot injury in the process.

Pau has been griping about his role so the minutes should help ease his angst, but Mike D'Antoni's not going to be happy with the final score against the Suns, who won 92-86, snapping the Lakers' three-game winning streak after the Lakers blew a late double-digit lead. In addition to the nice minutes, Pau also saw teammate Dwight Howard leave the game (not to return) after aggravating his right shoulder injury. Howard is going to eventually need surgery and keeps trying to avoid it from happening prior to the end of the season, but tonight's injury could change that mindset. In any case, if Howard is going to miss time, Gasol's going to see a huge boost in value. As for Gasol's foot, he received treatment after the game and was seen grimacing in pain, saying that it has been bothering him "for awhile." Our guess is he continues to play through it, but it's something to be aware of.
