Dwight Howard said that "as of right now" he won't need to have surgery to repair the torn labrum in his right shoulder.
"Hopefully it doesn't get bad enough to where I have to have surgery," he said. "I don't want to think about that right now." He admitted that his shoulder is "pretty sore" and these quotes seem to allow for the possibility of surgery, but for now he plans to play through the pain all season -- surgery would shut him down for about six months.
