Beat writer Marc Berman suggests that the Knicks' medical staff believes Rasheed Wallace only has "so many games left" on his troublesome left foot.
Wallace is dealing with a stress reaction, which is the beginning of a stress fracture. It's the kind of injury that gets worse with wear and tear, so the Knicks are just shutting Sheed down for now. They'll figure out a program to get him ready to contribute in the playoffs. That will likely mean limited minutes over the final 20 games of the season.
