Mavs have pondered starting Brand over Kaman

Coach Rick Carlisle recently acknowledged that he's considered starting Elton Brand over Chris Kaman.
Carlisle wisely wants a defensive-minded player like Brand playing next to the defensively-challenged Dirk Nowitzki. So even though he hasn't pulled the trigger on the move yet, Brand's minutes are on the rise. Over the last five games, he's averaging 13.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 0.8 blocks and 0.6 steals. There's some plug-n-play appeal with the veteran.
