Jared Dudley, who had been starting at shooting guard, traded spots with P.J. Tucker and slid over to small forward Tuesday, finishing with 18 points, five rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two 3-pointers on 6-of-14 shooting in 42 minutes.
The move back to small forward apparently helped Dudley, who had scored eight or fewer points in three of his previous four games. Obviously the 42 minutes also helped, but the bottom line is that Dudley looked much better tonight at SF. He's averaging 16.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.8 3-pointers in 12 starts at forward this season, but just 8.9 points, 2.5 boards, 1.6 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.9 3-pointers as a starting guard. Hopefully, Alvin Gentry is aware of the disparity and will leave him at small forward the rest of the way. We sure would.
