Dwight Howard steps back to improve FTs
Dwight Howard - C - Los Angeles Lakers
Jan. 2, 2013 - 3:30 PM ET

Dwight Howard credits his recent improvement from the free throw line to taking a half-step back before shots.

Howard, who shot 47% from the FT line through the end of November, has been hitting 56.2% from the charity stripe since Dec. 1. Howard said he noticed a lot of his attempts were going off the back rim, giving him the idea to move backward. While the change won't make Howard a FT champion by any stretch, it's still marked improvement in arguably the weakest area of his game.
