NEW YORK - Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer was suspended for one game Saturday by the NHL for head-butting Los Angeles Kings forward Ian Laperriere.
Fischer got into a fight with Laperriere in the third period of Detroit’s 5-4 win in Los Angeles on Thursday. The suspension will cost Fischer $6,256 in pay. He had to sit out Saturday’s game against Phoenix.

PHT: Detroit scored four unanswered goals to top Chicago 4-1 on Saturday. The Western semifinals are now level at one game apiece. Game 3 is on Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
