The Cubs are in talks with free agent Brandon Webb, sources told AOL Fanhouse's Ed Price.
Webb has also drawn the eyes of the Nationals, Dodgers, Pirates, Twins and Rangers. A reunion with the Diamondbacks hasn't been ruled out, but it seems unlikely. The Cubs would be smart to gamble on a high-upside arm to go along with their current five-man rotation of Ryan Dempster, Carlos Zambrano, Randy Wells, Carlos Silva and Tom Gorzelanny. Webb hasn't pitched in a major league game since the start of 2009 and should come rather cheap.
