Report: W. Simpson confirms; won't play Open

Webb Simpson will not compete in next month's British Open, according to Golf Channel's Todd Lewis on Twitter.
Immediately following his victory at Olympic Club on Sunday, Simpson left the door open until further review. His wife is seven months pregnant and the golfer doesn't want to risk missing the birth. This is what Lewis tweeted: "Caught up with @webbsimpson1 today at Travelers. Will NOT play British Open. Wife Dowd due with couple's 2nd child and won't miss birth." Meanwhile, Webb Simpson is a green light for this week's Travelers Championship.
