According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, Fredi Gonzalez will receive a three-year contract to manage the Braves, with an option for a fourth year.
Pretty decent job security for a guy who was fired by the Marlins in June. Gonzalez, 46, amassed a 276-279 record over 3 1/2 seasons in Florida. He was a third base coach under Bobby Cox from 2003-06 and has been considered the odds-on favorite to replace the legendary manager for months. Carlos Tosca, who was Gonzalez's bench coach in Florida, will serve the same role in Atlanta. Terry Pendelton, who previously served as the hitting coach, will stay on as the first base coach. Glenn Hubbard, the previous first base coach and Chino Cadahia, the previous bench coach, were not offered positions on the new staff.
