Sheldon Souray has been assigned to the minors by the Edmonton Oilers.
However, the team he has been sent to is the affiliate of the Washington Capitals, the Hershey Bears, on a loan. Now the Oilers can't trade or play Souray until he passes through re-entry waivers at which point any team can claim him and split his remaining contract with Edmonton. Additionally, in case you were wondering, the Capitals and Oilers have not discussed a trade involving Souray according to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie.
