The Detroit Red Wings signed goalie Jimmy Howard to a six-year, $31.8 million contract extension.
Howard and the Wings have been close to a deal for a little while but announced the contract Tuesday. "He's entering the prime of his career and over the last four years has gained a tremendous amount of regular season and postseason experience. He's developed into a top-tier NHL goaltender and is a very important part of our team moving forward," said general manager Ken Holland. Howard is 17-12-6 with a .920 save percentage and a 2.31 GAA this season.
